SuperDesign  film screening

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Radical: Italian Design 1965–1985, The Dennis Freedman Collection”. SuperDesign is a film curated by Francesca Molteni and Maria Cristina Didero, directed by Francesca Molteni (Italy, 2017, 62 minutes): The work retraces the history and heritage of Italy’s Radical Design Movement through the perspectives of leading figures such as Franco Audrito, Andrea Branzi, Alessandro Mendini, and Gaetano Pesce. The movement emerged in the revolutionary 1960s, when the need for change spread throughout the Western world and pervaded all aspects of life. SuperDesign explores these Radical works with the architects and designers, accompanying them through their cities and listening to their revolutionary ideals.

After the screening, stay for a panel discussion with Franco Audrito, founder of Studio65 in Turin, Italy; Evan Snyderman, principal of R & Company in New York; and Cindi Strauss, the Sara and Bill Morgan Curator of Decorative Arts, Craft, and Design.
