Casa Canella

The theme: a fourth-floor Olympus. The clients were a young married couple who wanted to build themselves a “mansion” with a modern look. The project was the fruit of a close partnership between client and architect, and was geared towards reinterpreting in an ironic mode the myths of residential living: the condominium apartment was to be turned into a palace. The armchair once again becomes a throne in the council chamber (public virtue). The flower sofa serves as a corolla for gossipy conversations and, in imposing promiscuity, invites transgression (private vices). The round bath is centrally located in the centre of the lounge, within the white column. The wardrobe is a four-season colonnade and the bed becomes a stage with cosmic backdrops for amorous representations.
